Brother and sister Nicki Barnes and Justin Woodward have been working together, mostly in harmony, for over 20 years. Their flute and marimba adventures have taken them to Buckingham Palace and Highgrove, entertaining guests of HRH the Prince of Wales, cruises to Norway and South America and all over the UK. They enjoyed many rewarding years on Menuhin's "Live Music Now!" scheme, performing in the wider community. Their repertoire is an ecclectic mix of everything from arrangements of baroque favourites to world folk music, played on flute, alto flute, piccolo, whistles and quena.
A graduate of the Royal College of Music, Justin is now a successful freelance percussionist currently working on London shows Mathilda, Lion King, Miss Saigon and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Alongside marimba he plays drum kit, jazz vibraphone and orchestral percussion. He has worked with Black Dyke Mills Band, the LPO and London City Ballet, was a founder member of the Mary Poppins band and is a favourite for Matthew Bourne productions. Justin enjoys a myriad of free-lance jazz gigs, skiing holidays and caravanning with his family!
Nicki graduated from the Royal College of Music with prizes for Flute performance, all-round musicianship and exhibition scholarships in both flute and piano. She has given recitals at the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Rooms and Live on Classic FM. She has worked for the LPO and Bournmouth Symphony Orchestras, recorded flamenco and folk flutes and spent several months in Ecuador performing, teaching and learning about local folk music. Nicki's latest passion is leading Rockhampton's choir. She aspires to playing the bagpipes so stay tuned!
