Panache Steel Band

Picture

It's like listening to sunshine...

This was how the host at a recent concert at St George's Bristol described Panache.  You just can't resist tapping your feet and clapping along to the happy sounds of the Caribbean from this wonderful group.

Since its formation in 1994, generations of the Panache Steel Band from The Castle School have travelled thousands of miles bringing the sound of the Caribbean to concerts, fairs, weddings, parties, corporate events and Caribbean evenings.  They have been on tour to France, Germany and Barbados.

The current squad continues the tradition, playing to a wide audience in the local area and further afield.   Recent performances have included Frampton Country Fair, Raglan Music Festival, Thornbury Arts Festival and St George's, Bristol.  Outreach activities have brought their wonderful music to adults with learning disabilities, the elderly, young children and to raise money for schools in Malawi and Gambia.

They have achieved well-deserved acclaim.  In January 2017, Gill Holmes who started the band at The Castle School won the prestigious St George's Prize for music for her work with Panache.
